Analysis of Multimodal Signal in Rotorcraft Cockpit

Abstract

A methodology to test and validate the effectiveness of multimodal signals in aircraft cockpits is presented. A set of twelve participants not trained as professional pilots are asked to perform a flight-like tracking task. Then, the effects of visual and aural sensors in acquiring the external information are evaluated through objective and subjective methods. The results are used to draw recommendations to perform a complete analysis of a novel multimodal signal.
