dc.description.abstractThe objective of this study is to stabilize a helicopter after experiencing a tail rotor failure while in steady state conditions. This study takes the previous work of the authors several steps further by handling the stabilization after the tail rotor failure phase and investigating the effects of main rotor speed control and the reaction time to the failure. The trajectory optimization is used to generate the flight paths from a healthy steady condition to a faulty steady condition for different flight scenarios. The flight trajectory generation process is improved by implementing a stitched model. The obtained trajectories are used by the tracking controller as references and the nonlinear simulations are performed.
